The Truth about Qumran

Qumran was a Jewish monastery situated in the desert of Judea. It was the home of the prophets and priests of Israel. When Nebuchadnezzar unleashed the punishment of God on Israel, Qumran was one of the first places to be attacked by the Babylonian army. The men of Qumran held their ground long enough to hide the treasures they had removed from Solomon's Temple.

The priests and prophets who lived in Qumran left Jerusalem because of Israel's apostasy. They later became known as the Essenes and "people of the way." They broke away to follow the accurate teachings of Yahweh. Doctrines include the "Zadok Priestly Calendar" rather than the lunar calendar. They acquired and kept in their library uncorrupted religious texts. They wanted nothing to do with the tarnished religious system operating then. These priestly texts have been discovered and are today called "The Dead Sea Scrolls." They designed Qumran to look like Jerusalem. In remembrance of their homeland.
